            seperate process to get IE8 and no more replace IE6 files with IE8 ones.

Windows XP Post SP3 High-Priority Updates for nLite

This list is designed for use with nLite but can be used for other purposes. Add them to the Hotfix, Add-ons and Update Packs section of nLite.

These are the high-priority updates that install or appear on a stock, fresh install of Windows XP SP3 when visiting Windows Update.

I recommend maintaining a folder with all the current updates/add-ons on your computer so you can easily make an up to date CD.

Updates Downloader, Checker and Add-on Creator

Place in an empty folder and run the batch file and it will automatically download all the files listed here. In the case where an add-on containing Microsoft binaries is required, the script will download the update from Microsoft and create an add-on for you. You can also place it in your current updates folder and it will scan for and retrieve any missing files.

  7. Due to a change in the detection logic of Windows Update, I am no longer including the MSRT. It now checks for the presence of the binary. Since the tool becomes obsolete after a month and as such rendering your CD obsolete, it's best to leave it out.
  8. There will no longer be any new add-ons available for download for Adobe Flash Player. Instead, the UDC script will download the installer and create an add-on with the latest version for you.
    The UDC script needs to be re-run in your current updates folder each time a new Flash player is released. This will ensure you have the latest version.
  9. Due to a bug in nLite, KB977816 must be processed before KB2115168. To do this, simply check the sort order of your Hotfix, Add-ons and Update Packs section of nLite. With the exception of KB978338 and KB2509553 on XP Home (see footnote [11]), sorting them by date, with the oldest first, is a good idea.

  10. A registry entry in the Kernel-Mode Drivers update (KB number changes) is not added by nLite due to a bug. This add-on correctly adds it.
  11. XP Home only! Due to a bug in nLite, KB978338 must be put below KB2509553 when the target source is XP Home. To do this, first sort the updates by date ascending, then with the arrows on the right, move KB978338 below KB2509553.
  12. KB2686509 will fail if either of the following conditions are met. 1. You disable the Windows key in Tweaks (advanced), Explorer, Disable Windows Key. 2. You remove the keyboards in Components. Do not do either of these and KB2686509 will run fine. Once XP is installed you can disable the Windows key by searching Google for the registry entry that needs to be added.
